Tralee Dynamos were hit with a blow before the game when Keeper Wayne Guthrie failed a fitness test and was replaced between the posts by Timmy Cotter. However this didnt deter Dynamos who started very brightly and won the first free kick of the game within two minutes. Stephen O'Mahony's free kick was flicked on by Chris Kerins to Eoin Cassidy who was just wide.

Following a Cork City corner in the 4th minute Dynamos broke quickly and Sugrue set up Kerins whose pile-driver was well saved by Gary Philpott in the Cork goal. Dynamos continued to create chances and Cassidy looked like opening the scoring but his shot rebounded off  Maurice O'Rahilly who just couldnt get out of the way.

Theo Digigns put in a great block at the other end when Cork City did attack while in the next attack Stephen O'Mahony beat two defenders to set up Jamie McIntyre but his shot was cleared. Cork City did have a chance to take the lead following a defensive mix up but Rob Waters hit the post when it was easier to score.

In the 34th minute Dynamos had another chance when Cassidy nodded on a free kick but it just wouldnt come down for Kerins.Jamie McIntyre had another chance but it also went wide.

Dynamos were made pay when in the 43rd minute Cork City scored through Kevin O'Sullivan. Dynamos were forced to make another change at half time when Timmy Cotter failed to return from a ham string injury he picked up in the first half and was replaced by Damien Diggins.

Within a minute Dynamos could have been 2-1 up when Maurice O'Rahilly diving header just went wide. They were made pay in the 34th minute when Owen Forde was left unmarked in the box and had the easy task of putting Cork City 2-1 up and they closed out the game.

This is a game that Dynamos can take alot of positives out of and they certainly created enough chances but at this level you got to take them and not give away anything at the other end. However they can go into the FC Carlow game with alot of confidence.
