TRALEE DYNAMOS 1 BRAY WANDERERS 2
Tralee
wander as Bray take home the points!
Dynamos went into this game on the back of two wins in a row in the League but came up just short of making it three. They were forced to make changes before kick-off with Eoin Casssidy ruled out. Adrian McHugh started up front with Eoin Fitzgerald coming in left of mid-field.
The home side started well with James Sugrue and Maurice O’Rahilly causing the Bray defence problems from set pieces. Brian Fitzgerald then found Eoin Fitzgerald who over hit the cross while Sugure was unlucky at the end of a good move involving Chris Kerins and Adrian McHugh. Bray first real chance came in the 10th minute when Ian McNeill found space but was unable to get in a shot as Brian Fitzgerald put in a great block.
Dynamos continued to play good passing football and had two great moves in the 14th and 17th minutes. Firstly a Guthrie throw found Jonathan Burrows who released Eddie Duggan but his low cross was cleared while the ball just wouldn’t come down for Eddie Duggan after he got on the end of a Maurice O’Rahilly cross from a Sugrue free kick.
Following this Chris Kerins was unlucky when shooting from a tight angle and another good passing movement saw Maurice O’Rahilly set up Brian Fitzgerald whose cross just evaded Jamie McIntyre.
However it wasn’t all one way as Bray were also dangerous, especially from set pieces. Ian Masterson who came on as a sub shot over after Daire Doyle knocked down a John Mulroy cross.
Neither side could find that vital breakthrough in the first half, and so the sides went in 0-0 at the break.
Dynamos started the second half well and Theo Diggins combined with Eoin Fitzgerald on the right wing and when he was fouled the free kick just eluded Adrian McHugh.
However in the seventh minute the deadlock was broken. Bray’s Ian McNeill was allowed in behind the Dynamos defence and his cross found Ian Tough who had the time to swivel and shoot past Guthrie low to his right.
Indeed only for a Jonathan Burrows goal saving tackle on Darren Forsyth a minute later they could have found themselves two down.
Dynamos settled down and were very unlucky not to equalise in the 22nd minute. Sugrue did brilliantly to beat two defenders and found Eddie Duggan who low cross just eluded Sugre who had carried on his run into the box.
In the 40th minute the home side suffered a second blow when Darren Forsyth beat Guthrie and the Dynamos defence to a long ball and headed into an empty net.
But this Dynamos team have a lot of soccer played and came right back into the game. A Sugrue cross was flicked on by Adrian McHugh and Chris Kerins made no mistake to bring them right back into the game. However try as they did Dynamos were unable to find an equaliser and Bray Wanderers held out to take the three points back to the seaside with them.
Following this defeat Dynamos will still
be in the top four but face a very difficult away trip next Sunday to table
toppers and unbeaten side Bohemians. Then it’s back to Tralee for the vital
