FAI FORD CUP 4th Round Draw – Last 16:
Hi Ho, Hi Ho It’s Off to the
Tralee Dynamos didn’t have long to wait as they were the second team out of the hat in the FAI Ford Cup 4th Round. The draw took place live on Monday Night Soccer with FAI Vice President Paddy McCaul drawing the home sides and Shamrock Rovers legend Pat Byrne pulling out the balls out for the away teams.
Everyone was on tender hooks as the draw started and first out of the hat was Bray Wanderers who got the home draw quickly followed by ourselves.
Looking at all the teams in the draw – eight Premier, six Division One and two non-league teams if we were going to draw an Premier side away then Bray would have been an obvious choice.
They have struggled so far this season with a record of 19 played, 3 wins, 6 draws and ten losses. That is not saying that we are going to get anything easy in the Carlisle Grounds but with the confidence of the Dynamos team at the moment, and the romance of the Cup where giant-killing happens regularly then why not take a Premier Division scalp in the history making season.
Speaking to coach Jason Fitzgerald straight after the draw he was of the same opinion. “Of course we would have rather have had a home draw but at this stage we won’t fear anyone and will give the tie everything we have. Bray Wanderers have a proud footballing tradition while we are on the early steps of our League adventure. But rest assured we have the quality and experience to go out and give a good account of ourselves”.
The ties take place on the weekend of August 16th so book that weekend off and lets take a good crowd to ‘the seaside’ and see can we reach the last eight of the FAI Ford Cup.
