Kingdom Boys Football Club
History
Club founded 1999

1O years ago a group of people decided to form a dedicated schoolboy club which would cater for not only the youth of Tralee but Kerry as a whole. Little did those people know that 10 years down the line so much would be achieved. Years ago Kerry teams playing their illustrious opponents in Dublin and others would be beaten before any kick off however all that has changed and through those people in K Boys and their vision and pro-active approach the process began. Kingdom Boys have done so much for the development of the youth and it's fantastic to see that still to-day so many of those players are still playing at some grade. We still have players playing in England and in the highest level of soccer domestically to boot. With so many players having represented their county/country at several different age groups we have gone from strength to strength and will continue to do so. This week we begin to salute individuals and over the next few weeks we hope to recognise all those people. Chris Kerins, Ger O' Mahony, Steve Renardson, Kerry Renardson, Brian Mc Carthy, Tony O' Neill, Pat O' Sullivan, Tom Spillane, Willie Dennehy, Francie Slattery, Colm Dunlea, Redmond Powell many more will be mentioned over the coming weeks along with all the players.
As we continue to look back over the last 10 years of our short but successful tenure in Schoolboys soccer, we look to remember some of the players and individuals who have made this such a fascinating story. Kingdom Boys laid the foundations in terms of development and in players like David Hennessy, Chris Kerins, Stevie O' Mahony, Adam Renardson, Danny Carroll, Gordon Kerins, Paul Walsh, Stephen O' Sullivan, David Moore, Billy Dennehy, David Flaherty, Sean Gazza Kelly, Mikey Bowler, Giles O' Grady, Peter Mc Carthy, James Sugrue, Anthony Murphy, Paul English, Dan O'Connor, Shane Guthrie, Colin O' Connor, Kieran Scannell, Kevin Slattery, Martin Bowler, Paul Heaslip, Adam Moore, the quality above says it all. I'm sure there are some players in the early stages that haven't been mentioned but over the coming weeks they certainly will be. When you consider that some of the above named players have played at the highest level in domestic football and some have tasted football in England the ingredients of this Club is based on Development of young footballers.
We look to remember some of the players and individuals who have made this such a fasinating story. Kingdom Boys were first in setting up Academies and with Alan Mc Govern, John Lenihan work started every Saturday morning and along with Tony O' Neill these guys set about creating a different culture which would bear fruits in years to come. Along came Colm Dunlea, Miah, Ken Robinson, Redmond and all were to play a significant role in player development in the years ahead. When Kingdom Boys obtained individuals such as Rena Powell and Lorainne Mc Intyre our administration work was in safe hands. Such people are hard to get nowadays. Players come and go and head in different directions but one such great story is Graham Dunlea whose time with us was a joy, such a great character and when Graham turned a Pro Golfer it was brilliant for all concerned. Players such as David Rodgers, Jason Quirke, Sean Slattery, Mark Renardson, Jamie Kelly, Damien Quirke, Theo Diggins, Darren Dennehy, Colm Kirby, Stephen Mc Carthy ansd Luke Burgess our talent was starting to revolve.
People such as Ken Sweeney, Paul Lowth, Peter Hawkins, Pat O' Connell, Joe Reilly ,Pa Cunningham, Pa Reidy,Tony Everet,Jamie Wren, Jimmy Wren,Adrian O'Shea,Kieran, Miah Lynch, Tony Duggan. Ken Sweeny and Miah Lynch deserve special credit for the amount of work they have done for Kingdom Boys over the years. Pat O' Connell took over the Academy for a 3 year period and also deserves special thanks. We will give an in depth evaluation of all the Academy coaches over the coming weeks and also our growing list of International Players.
