The 2009/2010 Kerry Schoolboys / Girls League Roll of Honour:
With the season now wrapped up, bar the Killarney Celtic – Kingdom Boys U16 Tucker Kelly Cup final which will be rescheduled for the end of the month, it is a good time to look at where the silverware went.
The fact that there are new trophies in clubhouses from Dingle to Mastergeeha and from Listowel to Kenmare shows that Schoolboys/ Girls soccer is certainly a county-wide sport with once again over 2,500 playing the Beautiful Game.
There is no doubting what the highlights, and indeed most painful memories, of the season are. They are the runs of Killarney Celtic and Kingdom Boys to the semi finals of National Cup competitions.
Celtic were within seconds of a penalty shoot-out against Home Farm, and will Kennedy Cup keeper Shane Ryan between the posts the odds were that the Hoops would prevail. However it wasn’t to be but they can look back with great pride at some great wins along the way, not least their come from behind victory over Aisling Annacotty.
Kingdom Boys went out in different circumstances. Having to travel to Crumlin they were very disappointed to be forced to play on a less than perfect All Weather pitch, while a carpet like grass pitch lay idle right beside them.
However this team can reflect on six memorable years if runs in National Cup competitions and while they mightn’t have the hoped for trophies they will go down in history of a side that made a great contribution to Kerry National Cup tradition.
At home Killarney Celtic had a memorable underage season and starting at the youngest age in the League they did the double at Under 11 level. They added a Cup final victory over Listowel Celtic to their Premier win.
There was great joy in Mastergeeha and Fenit when they won Div 1 South and North respectively. The Kilbrean side pipped Killorglin to the title while Fenit won their side with a game in hand over Camp.
The North Kerry Celtic were the big winner at under 12 level defeating Dingle Bay 1-0 to win the John Murphy Cup and winning the League by a point from Killarney Athletic.
Under 12 Div 1 saw Cup runners up Dingle gain a lot of satisfaction in winning the League while in Div 2 Kingdom Boys were too strong for the bunch.
West Kerry were again celebrating at
Under 13’s.
The Cup went to Killarney Celtic who just got the better of Fenit.
However Fenit will certainly be happy with winning the Div 1 North League title while the Southern equilivent went to Ballyhar.
St Brendan’s Park under 14’s completed a great achievement of four League titles in a row, with this team having previously prevailed at u11,u12 an u13.
The Tom Hayes Cup final was a Killarney derby with Celtic prevailing over Athletic 3-0 after a tight game.
Castlsisland picked up their silverware when winning Div 1.
In the Under 15 Premier the league title was decided after a very exciting play-off as Kingdom Boys and Killarney Celtic finished level on points. It was Celtic who won the day while the Cup final was a high scoring thriller with Inter Kenmare defeating Mastergeeha 8-3.
The Under 16 League title went to the same club. Killarney Celtic won on penalties after both Celtic and Kingdom Boys topped their respective sections.
Girls: Listowel Celtic completed a clean sweep in the Girls Cups winning the treble of Under 12 /14 and 16 Cup. The remarkable aspect to this was that Savanah McCarthy scored in all three finals.
The Girls League were won by Killarney Celtic, Listowel Celtic and Inter Kenmare.

Tom Hayes U14 Cup Killarney Celtic 3-0 Killarney Athletic:
Division One side Killarney Athletic really put it up to neighbours Killarney Celtic and stayed with the Premier side until the early stages of the second half.
However Celtic gradually imposed their class and began to take their chances and once the first goal went in on the 45th minute there was only going to be one winner.
That goal was scored by Tony Brosnan following a great run by Conor Keane who combined with Sean O’Sullivan to set up Brosnan who made no mistake from close range.
Celtic began the second period on the attack and the goals duly came. Following Brosnan’s tenth minute strike Athletic were hit again four minutes later when a ball into the box was only half cleared and Sean O’Sullivan kept his cool to shoot home from just inside the right hand side of the box.
To their credit Athletic didn’t drop their heads and went looking to get one back. O’Connor had to be at his best on a number of occasions, especially when Kieran Brosnan looked like he had beaten the Celtic keeper but he struck out a leg to keep his side two goals in front.
The game was up for Athletic on the hour when Tony Brosnan was taken down in the box and James McCarrick made no mistake from the spot to but The Hoops 3-0 in front to warp up matters.
Celtic captain Conor Keane was presented with the Tom Hayes Memorial Cup by Denny Hayes and Celtic goal keeper Andrew O’Connor was named man-of-the-match.
The game was excellently controlled by Owen Moynihan and his assistants Maurice O’Shea and Brian Healy, who cause was definitely helped by two very sporting sides.
Under 15 Cup Final: Inter Kenmare 8-3 Mastergeeha:
During the week the second semi final
was played and at half time this pairing didn’t look lightly as Inter were 2-0
down to Kingdom Boys. Nigel O’Connor had struck twice to give the
Probably the fact that the final was fixed for Kenmare give Inter that added initiative.
In the final Inter were 1-0 up inside the first minute when Brian Clifford struck home. They kept up the pressure and by the half had scored, with Clifford adding a second and the other two coming from Kian Hallissey and Brian Crowley.
Keith Finn did pull one back for Mastergeeha to make the score 3-1 but they conceded the fourth goal on the stroke of half time, at a time when they were on top. Indeed Padraig Collins was very unlucky not to have put only one between the sides when he beat the Inter defence but his chip over the advancing keeper went just over the bar.
The second half continued in the same vein as the first with Crowely added two more goals, Hallissey a second and Gavin Crowley striking a cracker from 25 yards to wrap up the scoring.
Credit must go to Mastergeeha who never dropped their heads and did get two goals back, one from Gearoid Coghlan and the second from the impressive Conor Buckley.
But it was Inters day and to add to the celebrations Denis O’Neill was named Man of the Match.
The game was excellently controlled by Brian Healy assisted by Maurice O’Shea and Tom Kerrisk.
Under 14 League:
Coming into this game Listowel Celtic needed to win to force a play-off for the League title. However they only managed a point and had to settle for second as The Park lifted the trophy.
The Park’s goal came from a Greg Horan volley after he was set up Jay Murphy cross following a Jack Savage pass. The Park are worthy champions at this age group as they finished on 32 points from twelve games- an impressive record.
Listowel Celtic also played during the week drawing 0-0 with Killarney Celtic, which put paid to their chances of winning the League as they finished third.

Fergal Ryan, Darcy Patanski, Ferdia O’Brien and Rian O’Sullivan were all on the mark for Kingdom Boys but a hat-trick from Mark Ryan and two from Dara Moynihan saw Celtic add three more points to their League winning total.
Under 12 JK Sports Premier:
Killarney Athletic have done all than can following two games this week. The four points they gained from a 3-0 win over Park and a 1-1 draw with Listowel Celtic sees them finish on 28 points from their twelve games played.
In the 3-0 win Michael Casey, Dylan O’Sullivan and Ronan Buckley were the Athletic scorers.
However it is Listowel Celtic who are now in the driving seat as they are two points behind Athletic but have one game left to play, against Kingdom Boys during this week so a win will see them crowned League champions. In the 1 all draw Darragh Sheehy got the vital goal for Listowel.
Also during the week The Park and Killarney Cletic also drew 1-1 which sees Celtic finish in third place.
Under 13 Castleisland Computer Centre Premier:
Under 13 South:
Ballyhar and Mastergeeha went head to head for this title with the home side only needing a point. On the night they took all three in a good 5-1 win. The margin was a little wider than a gallant Mastergeeha side deserved but Ballyhar were clinical up front and very tight at the back.
Their goals came from Brian Kennedy 2, William Courtney, Joe Clifford (pen) and Kieran Brosnan while Mastergeeha’s solitary reply came from Neil O’Mahoney.
Under 15 Vanilla Pod Premier:
Kingdom Boys and Killarney Celtic have finished level on points and needing a play-off to decide the title after Kingdom Boys took the points from their game against Athletic.
Under 16 League Final:
Kingdom Boys 1-1 Killarney Celtic. Killarney Celtic won 3-2 on penalties.
This was a very exciting game on the field with both sides putting up an excellent performance. Scott Monaghan put Kingdom Boys 1-0 ahead with a very good strike from the edge of the box while Thomas Templeman replied for Celtic with a good header. Indeed Celtic could have won the game in normal time except for a wonder save from Paul White who turned a point blank header from six yards over the crossbar. Kingdom Boys showed great qualities to stay in the game after they were reduced to ten men when Ian McCarthy was sent off for a second yellow.
The game went to penalties and again both Keepers were outstanding with White saving two of Celtic’s spot kicks but Shane Murphy went one better blocking three of Kingdom Boys attempts, ensuring his side took the title in an enthralling encounter. Enough has been said and written about what happened after the final whistle.
Girls:
Listowel Celtic continued to put Girls trophies into their cabinet as they took the honours in the Under 14 League and Cup this week completing the double.
In the Cup they defeated Killarney Celtic in Listowel 5-2 with Lauren Flavin, Rebecca Horgan, Katherine Flavin, Megan O’Connor and Savanah McCarthy all netting one each. McCarthy was competing what must be a unique achievement as this goal means she scored in the U12, u14 and u16 Cup finals. Listowel’s League win, achieved over the same opposition and played in Killarney was a much tighter affair needing extra time to separate the sides.
It finished 1-1 after normal time but in extra time Nicola O’Connor and Savanah McCarthy added to Lauren Flavin’s goal to give Listowel the double.

Double Delight for Killarney Celtic as the first two Cup Finals are decided:
There was double delighted on the Cup front last Saturday as Killarney Celtic Under 11’s and 13’s completed a great Cup winning double.
First up was the Under 11 Final where Celtic faced Kingdom Boys, played in Mastergeeha. This game was eagerly anticipated but on the day Celtic settled better while the Kingdom Boys will learn from this defeat and will continue to progress.
The final score was 5-1 to the Killarney side with Conor McCarthy and Dion Marcos both scoring two goals with the fifth coming from David Spillane.
Ferdia O’Brien replied for the gallant runners-us.
The Cup was presented by Director of Coaching Lol O’Leary to the winning captain.
Under 13 Cup Final – Fenit 0-2 Killarney Celtic:
Even though Fenit are a Division 1 side they showed no nerves playing the Premier side’s second placed team Killarney Celtic. Of course it must be remembered that this Fenit side have won the Northern Section and will have a chance to win the Division when they face the yet to be determined Southern Section winners.
Both of these sides also had good runs in the National Cup with Celtic getting to the last four and to add to the excitement there were a large number of Kennedy Cup players on show.
In the end Celtic won on a 2-0 score-line, with those goals coming from Daniel O’Donnoghue and Michael Burns. However it wasn’t an easy victory with Celtic thankful that keeper Shane Ryan was in top form as he made a number of vital saves to keep Fenit from getting that one goal that really would have brought them back into the game. The game was played in the excellent Murt Scott Park in Ballyhar.
The players had the added bonus of having their medals presented by the FAI’s High Performance Director Wim Koevermans, who was on a visit to Kerry.
The Fenit squad who took part were: Gearoid Carmody, Denis Cosgrave, Kevin Devane, Ryan Dolan, Dylan Fitzgerald, Fionn Griffin, Fiachra Griffin, Cormac O’Connor, Ivan Parker, Gary Hannafin, Mitchell Holland, Cian McGarry, Dessie McCarthy, Darragh McCarthy and Eoin O’Brien.

Under 15 Vanilla Pod Div 1- Park 6-0 Castlemaine:

In this game they had six different scorers – Steven Roche, Tom McLoughlin, Brandon Evans, Aaron Eager, Tony O’Brien and Jay Murphy.
Under 16 Killarney Plaza South: Killarney Celtic 2-1 Mastergeeha:
With Celtic and Athletic tied going into this game the Hoops needed at least a point to top the South section and go on to face North winners Kingdom Boys. Mastergeeha were out of the title race but really put it up to Celtic. Scott O’Mahony and Cathal Sheehan were on the mark for Celtic while Mark Reen scored for Mastergeeha from the penalty spot.

On Thursday night Kingdom Boys booked their place in Saturday’s semi final with a 6-1 win over Fenit. Fergal Ryan was the top-scorer with four goals, which were added to by Fergal O’Brien and Darcy Patanski.
In the semi final it was a much tighter affair and it saw Kingdom Boys coming back for a goal down to book their place in the final.David Long opened the scoring for The Park but Reen O’Sullivan equalised for Brian Twohig’s side and Patanski was again the match winner. It was quarter final time during the week and Killarney Athletic just got past Asdee 2-1. Sean Keane scored for the North Kerry side but goals from Jordan Kiely and David Sheerin put Athletic into the semis.
Killarney Celtic scored six without reply against Mastergeeha and had Chris White, Darren O’Doherty, Dan O’Donoghue and Zauel Hoque amongst their scorers.
This game was closer than the score-line suggests as only one goal separated the sides at half time.
Castlemaine also booked their place in the semi finals with a very good 2-1 win over a strong Park side. Cathal O’Connor and Jonathan O’Sullivan from the spot were the Castlemaine scorers who also had keeper Kevin Cronin in great form.
Fenit were the fourth side to make it to the last four winning 4-1 in Listowel. Celtic’s Adam O’Rourke were their sole scorer but Fenit’s Mitchell Holland, Gearoid Carmody, Denis Cosgrave and Ivan Parker all hit the net to send them into the semi’s.
On Saturday one of those semis was played and the Killarney derby saw Celtic again score six to Athletics 2. Chris Doncell 2, Mathew Keane 2, Donal Lyne and Darren O’Doherty were Celtic’s scorers.
The other semi will see Fenit at home to Castlemaine to see who contests the final, die to be played in Ballyhar.

Kerry Schoolboys League Results:
It was a huge week for all the Divisions with games being played mid week and at the weekend as we head towards the end of the season, set for the last weekend of May / first weekend of June.
Moriartys Centra Under 11 Premier:
Killarney Celtic were celebrating another League title following their 7-1 win over Listowel Celtic, who to be fair were missing a few players. David Spillane, David Clifford, Dara Moynihan, Peter McCarthy and Dion Marcos all scored for the Premier winners, who still have a game to play. And it’s an important one as they face Kingdom Boys who will have to beat them to force a play-off for second. with Listowel Celtic.
The Park continued their late season improvement with a 4-1 win over Killarney Athletic. Josh Laucher, Karl Mullins 2 and Sean Tansley scored for the Tralee boys while for Killarney Athletic James Suter was delighted to get on the score-sheet on his come-back following a broken arm.
Under 11 Div 1 South: Mastergeeha were already the winners in this section and were too good for a young Killarney Celtic side, who to be fair to them have really improved over the season. Gearoid Kerins, Shane O’Sullivan 2, Sean O’Leary 2 and JJ Herlihy scored for Mastergeeha in this 6-0 win and they will face North winners Fenit , who took the points against Clanmaurice 2-0, in the play-off to see who will be crowned Under 11 Div 1 Champions.
There were two mid week games in the North section with Listowel Celtic B defeating Clanmaurice 2-0 and Camp overcoming Killorglin B by the same score.
Listowel Celtic moved to the summit of this division with a 4-1 away win against Park and now are three points clear of Killarney Celtic with both sides having two games to play.
Aidan Quinn 2, Darren Murphy and Chris Elbell were on the mark for Listowel while Padraig Griffin replied for The Park.
Castleisland Computer Centre Under 13 Premier:
O’Callaghan’s Coaches U14 Premier:
But there was a much more important game on Friday night when third placed Killarney Celtic faced top side Park. The game finished 2-2 which put paid to Celtic’s hopes of staying in the title race. Park’s scorers were Conor Jordan and Jack Savage while for Celtic Liam Crencher and Tony Brosnan hit the net.
Park are now on 29 from 11 games followed by Listowel Celtic on 25 from ten and Killarney Celtic on 23 from 11. Listowel and The Park still have to meet with Listowel also having to face Killarney Celtic before the title is decided.
Under 14 Div 1:
The Park will finish the season tied for fourth place with Killarney Athletic following the six points they picked up this week. The defeated Clanmaurice and Inter Kenmare by the same score 2-0.
Castlesland have already won this title followed by Killarney Celtic in second place.
Kingdom Boys and Killarney Celtic have dominated this division so it was obvious that there was not going to be anything between them when the clashed on Friday night and so it turned out with the game ending in a 1-1 draw.
However it will be second placed Kingdom Boys who will be much the happier, despite the fact that they dropped their first League points of the season.
Darragh Carmody scored for Kingdom Boys while Wayne Sparling was on the mark for Celtic. The top of the table now reads Killarney Celtic on 19 points having finished their eight game programme while Kingdom Boys are on 16 points with two games remaining.
Under 15 Div 1:
The game between second placed Camp and third placed St Bernard’s was a vital game, not just for those two teams but also for League leaders Mastergeeha and fourth placed The Park.
The game finished 5-3 in The Saints favour with St Bernard’s goals coming from Steven Egan 2, Daniel Collins, Sean O’Mahoney and Michael O’Leary.
This outcome means that Mastergeeha are crowned champions on 19 points and win the division with a game in hand. St Bernard’s move into second place on 18 points having played their eight games.
However they must still wait to see if they can claim the prize for second place as The Park are on 15 points and have a game to play against Castlemaine. If the Park win they will tie with St Bernard’s and force a play-off for second.
With Kingdom Boys awaiting the South section winners Killarney Celtic moved themselves into pole position to snatch that that prize having picked up six points this week. First up they defeated Inter 5-1 through Scott O’Mahoney 3, Denis O’Riordan and Jamie Spillane.
They then faced nearest challengers Killarney Athletic and came out 2-1 winners with the goals coming from Tadgh Moore and Jamie Spillane again.
Celtic need to take at least a point off Mastergeeha in their last game as they are now level with Athletic but they have finished their League programme.

With the draws being done live on Radio Kerry’s Saturday Sport there were a number of very important games played this weekend.
Under 11 Cup:
Starting with the Under 11’s Killarney Celtic A defeated Inter Kenmare 6-0 with goals from Dion Marcos 2, Conor McCarthy, David Clifford, Kasper Malinowski and Mark Flynn.
Killorglin also hit 6 when booking their place in the last four. Aaron Foley top scored with a hat-trick for them in their 6-1 win over Park B. The other goals came from Mike Breen 2 and Paul Murphy.
There was a high scoring encounter

The fourth spot in the semi finals is between Fenit and Kingdom Boys who are playing mid-week.
Under 12 John Murphy Cup:
There was a novel pairing in the first quarter final when the two Killarney Celtic side’s met with, as expected the A side coming out on top. However their club-mates on the B team gave a very good account of themselves and with a number of under 11’s gaining very valuable experience it was a win/win for the club.
For Killarney Celtic A Mike Moynihan, Fergal O’Donoghue, Cathal O’Shea and two form Conon Randall saw them book their place in the last four.
Listlowel Cletic over came Kingdom Boys on the same score-line with their goals coming from Darren Murphy 2 and Chris Elbell’s 30 yard unstoppable free kick.
Joining them are Mastergeeha who had already booked their place thanks to a 4-2 win over Castleisland.
League Round-Up:
Moriarty’s Centra Under 11 Div 1 North:
Kingdom Boys B 2- 3 Listowel Celtic. With just pride to play for between these two sides they certainly proved that they have progressed well over the season and served up a cracker which just saw the North Kerry side take the three points on a 3-2 score-line. Kwale Yusuf score from the spot and Jack Versey added the second for Kingdom Boys but a Neilus Mackessey hat-trick give Listowel Celtic all three points.
Div 1 South: Mastergeeha had already topped this division and were probably looking forward to their play-off with the North section winners Fenit but that is to take nothing away from Ballyhar who will be reasonably happy with the point and consolidated their fourth place in the division.
Tommy O’Connor and Garroid Kerins scored for Mastergeeha with Cian O’Callaghan and Jack O’Driscoll replying for Ballyhar.
What a day in this division with three of the top four sides in action and three of them still in with a chance of winning the title. Iveragh United and Ballyhar started the day level at the top on 18 points followed by Mastergeeha on 16 and Inter on 14. Mastergeeha had the advantage of having two games left while all the other were playing their last game.
However it was a day of shocks with firstly Killarney Celtic B defeating Mastergehea 3-1. Aidan Mulvanney was their hero netting a hat trick while Eamon Herlihy replied for the Kilbrean side.
The unpredictable results continued when Inter coming out on top in their game against Iveragh United 4-2. Jack Daly hit the two for Iveragh.
So now with one game left in the division its Iveragh still on 18 points, Ballyhar, who didn’t play but will be delighted on 18 and Mastergeeha on 16 and the last game – Ballyhar v Mastgergeeha! So still any three from Iveragh United, Ballyhar and Mastergeeha could win, come second or third – who needs the Premiership!

Late Late Show sees Killarney Celtic bow out of National Cup: Killarney Celtic’s wonderful U13 National Cup run was cruelly ended with two late late goals in this semi final against Home Farm.
The game was level after normal time and indeed referee Seamie O’Mahoney had indicated two minutes of injury time at the end of extra time, of which one was almost completed when Home Farm’s Niall Doyle evaded despairing Celtic tackles to set up sub Sean Gorman who broke the Killarney sides hearts. With Celtic still realing Home Farm added a second. To be objective Home Farm were probably the better team on the day but for heart, endeavour, bravery and with no little skill Celtic couldn’t be faulted and were a credit to the huge crowd that turned up to support them.

It’s a wonderful world! A wonderful result, on a wonderful day on a wonderful pitch!!
Killarney Celtic U13’s have qualified
for the semi final of the Under 13 National Cup following a come-from-behind win
over Aisling Annacotty from
Next up for the Celtic heroes are Home Farm in the semi final which will also be played at Celtic’s excellent facilities.
However the Hoops made the huge crowd sweat on this result as they fell behind in 12 minutes into the second half to a goal from Brian Donovan. This came about due to the only real moment of panic the Celtic’s defence suffered all day and Donovan did well to find just enough room to get to the ball before keeper Shane Ryan and toe poke the ball home.
But this bunch of players have mental strength, including the memory of a defeat at this stage last season and were only behind for four minutes and what a goal it was.
Michael Burns found Matt Keane and his cross to the back post was met by a smashing half volley from the pride of Knocknagree John Fintan Daly whose showed great technical ability to rattle the back of the net giving the Aisling keeper Ed Doyle no chance.
Celtic were certainly the stronger and pushed for the winner. In the last few minutes they forced two corners and from the second, delivered perfectly by Paudie Clifford, Liam Kearney timed his run to perfection and met the cross will an unstoppable header that led to wonderful scenes on the Celtic side and heartbreak for the Limerick boys.
The first half of the game was very even but Celtic played the better football and with Burns and Paudie Clifford in great form they were always well in command. Ziquel Hogue and Darren O’Doherty were a handful up front and it was the former who had the first shot in anger after ten minutes.
Aisling were a bigger side than Celtic and in the 15th minute had a good chance to go ahead but Ronan Murphy could not keep his shot down.
Coming towards the end of the first period Celtic won a free kick and Keane found Doherty at the back post. His first time shot looked net bound but in fairness to the Aisling keeper he flung himself to his right and got the ball away.
Celtic came out very determined at the start of the second period and Hoque had a great chance to put his side ahead. However after getting 1 on 1 with the keeper he was unable to get the ball past him.
Next in was Doherty who raced onto Paudie Clifford’s through ball and did manage to get it past the keeper but it rolled just wide as keeper and striker collided.
Hoque was through again just after this but Paul Morrissey made a good tackle and also accidently caught the striker who had to go off.
It was shortly after this that Celtic went behind but as we know only for a few minutes.
What this victory means is that for the first time ever Kerry has two representatives into the National Cup semi finals, following Kingdom Boys under 16 ¼ win last week and the dreams of that elusive National title is a step closer on too fronts.

Neighbours Killarney Athletic will be joining them but they had a much harder game against Mastegeeha. Padriag Doyle put Mastergeeha 1-0 up before an own goal levelled matters. Mastergeeha again took the lead through Mark Reen but Ronan Murphy kept his cool from the penalty spot to make it 2-2 and in extra time a delightful Colm Tobin chip put Athletic into the next round.
Camp are also through defeating Castlemaine 3-1 through Padraig O’Connor, Chris Smith and Brendan Savage.
Inter and Listowel Celtic wasn’t

National Cup Last 32: Fenit Samphires 3-0 Balbriggan:
What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning, watching a superb performance by a young Fenit side in the bright sunshine and beautiful surroundings!
Fenit gave one of the best performances seen in a long time and were well worth their 3-0 victory as they controlled the game in all parts of the pitch. While the goals came from Gearoid Carmody, Gary Hannafin and Ivan Parker from keeper to centre forward they were in command playing wonderful flowing football on the ground.
To be fair to Balbriggan they were very magnanimous in defeat with their manager saying they were beaten by the better team.
A special mention must go to the Fenit club for their wonderful hospitality on the day where they treated the big visiting team, press corps and visiting team to tea and sandwiches after the game.
Fenit are at home again in the last 16

Firstly The Park were 2-0 down in the first period and in chasing the game were caught with two late goals.
Kingdom Boys got off to the worst possible start when in the first minute keeper Paul White was red-carded for a very controversial hand ball outside the box. Paul challenged the attacker and while the ball ended up in the net but the linesman decided that he prevented a clear goal scoring opportunity and the ref flashed the red card.
Kingdom Boys tried hard but were 3-0 down by the end of the first half. However they did have chances and Darragh Carmody saw a goal bound effort cleared off the line which might have changed the complexion of the game.
The Tralee side held Clontarf scoreless

O’Callaghan’s Coaches Under 14 Premier: League leaders Listowel Celtic made the most of their trip to Killorglin returning with a 3-1 victory (Kevin Bowler, Sean Gilbert and Sean Farrell) but didn’t have it all their own way as Celtic were thankful to keeper Darragh O’Shea who had and excellent game. Listowel are now on 16 points.
Third met second in Killarney as Dingle made the long trip to face Celtic and it was the home side who have now leapfrogged the West Kerry boys following a 5-2 win.
Conor Keane hit 2 with Tom Brosnan, Sean O’Sullivan and Alan Moriarty all scoring one each. Celtic move to within three points of the leaders with Dingle a point behind in third.
Div 1: There was plenty of action in Division 1 with eight teams in action and it was a great day for the underdogs. Somewhat surprisingly Killarney Celtic dropped their first points of the season in a 1-1 home draw with a determined Listowel Celtic B. Matt Keane equalised a Daniel Bardon opener for Listowel.
