Republic U15s complete double over North
Under-15 Tri-nations tournament
Republic of Ireland ‘A'.................5-0 Northern Ireland ‘A'
The Republic of Ireland Under-15s concluded the Tri-nation tournament on Sunday with aplomb by hitting five goals past Northern Ireland without reply.
It took 27 minutes for John Morling's side to make their pressure tell at Jackson Park in Kiltiernan but, once the opener arrived, three more goals were delivered before the break.
Following their 1-0 loss to Wales on Friday, a fresher looking Irish side took the initiative from the off and went close with efforts by Jordan Graham and Darren Murphy.
Though they were the dominant side, Ireland almost conceded on 25 minutes when goalkeeper Eric Grimes had to show his reflexes to deny Dominic Ball's snapshot at the back post.
The home side were more prolific at the other end and nudged ahead two minutes later as Kyle McFadden rose majestically to head home a corner by Jack Grealish.
A minute later, the lead was doubled when Gary O'Neill fed Grealish and the left-winger's sublime cross was met by Sam Byrne's head for the first of his brace.
It was 3-0 five minutes later, Byrne nodding home again after a corner by Grealish wasn't properly cleared, and the Aston Villa flanker set up the fourth on the stroke of the break for Jordan Graham.
Northern Ireland were left reeling with the barrage of first-half goals and despite their best efforts, there was no let-up in the second half.
Twelve minutes after the restart, Jordan Graham showed fancy footwork inside the box to dodge two defenders and drill a low shot into the corner.

Only three minutes had elapsed when Ireland grabbed their lead goal through Mayfield's Anthony McAlavey. Two penalty kicks, both converted by Jason Lyons on 12 and 16 minutes, put the home side in cruise control.
Dillon McGlade of Shelbourne FC manufactured the fourth goal in first-half stoppage time, twisting and turning on the edge of the box and unleashing a shot off the post which Lyons met on the rebound for his hat-trick goal.
