Today Dynamos made the return trip to Knocknagree to play QPR in the Greyhound Bar Cup,a game that was never going to be easy by any standard,missing the influential Mark Fitzgerald and Adrian McHugh and playing on a pitch that was not suitable for soccer meant that the passing game was going to be very limited however Dynamos started well getting the ball forward quickly and forcing Quarry Park to defend.
After 15mins Eddie Duggan broke on the left and put Diggins through he beat his marker with ease but could not beat the QPR custodian ,QPR themselves were doing well at midfield causing all sorts of problems for Samier and Ivan and getting the ball to their front men who were a handful for Eoin Cassidy and Maurice O'Rahilly throughout the first half but Dynamos are nothing if not game and soon tightened up Billy Stack was having one of his better games on the wing and giving his strikers plenty of quality balls Saad was linking up well with Diggins and on the 40th minute it was Diggs who set up Samier but having got inside the QPR defence he found himself upended Diggins tucked away the resultant penalty and it was game on,however QPR were soon back in the game when Dynamos failed to clear a long ball and the centre forward had the simplest of tasks of scoring.
1 - 1 at the break.Dynamos were now playing against the hill with the aid of a strong breeze and really took the game to their opponents Ivan Maher was now well on top of his game and with Darran Crotty having moved to left midfield Paul Daly in at left back all was going well Dynamos were creating lots of chances in the final third but could not breakdown a resolute defence on the other end Kevin McCannon was giving nothing away and setting up attack after attack and it he put Ivan through his first touch found Diggins and this time he made no mistake 2 - 1 with 10 mins remaining Dynamos rang in the changes Samier and Saad were replaced with Mickey Lynch and Martine Polozcsky and Pa Daly for Billy Stack and went to a 4 - 5 - 1 formation but with 1 minute remaining QPR were rewarded with a penalty;you could hear a pin drop as Robert Polozcsky in the Dynamos goal steadied himself and at full length to his right hand side parried the ball to safety and so it ended with a win to Dynamos after a titanic struggle.
