Soccer: Dynamos advance at Dingle’s expense

Greyhound Bar KO Cup
TRALEE DYNAMOS 2, DINGLE BAY ROVERS 0

TRALEE Dynamos were at home to Dingle Bay Rovers on Sunday and needed to keep their good run going with a win, which they managed with a 2-0 win though it wasn’t as easy as they might have imagined. Dingle showed much improved form but Dynamos were strong at the back where Cassidy and O’Rahilly again made a telling contribution.

Dynamos started brightly and were soon into their passing game making their opponents work hard to gain possession but this only lasted for 10 minutes as Dingle had ideas of their own. Over elaboration by Dynamos at the back meant there were always chances for Dingle Bay and Tim Cotter had to be alert in goal.

There were precious few scoring chances in the first half as Kenny Murphy and Fintan Smyth defended well at the back but in he 35th minute Dynamos could have taken the lead when Adrian McHugh brought an excellent save from Dingle keeper Adrian Kennedy who emerged as his the man of the match.

The sides retired scoreless at the break and really Dingle must have fancied their chances of sneaking a goal and causing a huge shock. However, the second half saw Dynamos up the tempo and take the game to their opponents, particularly at midfield where Mark Fitzgerald and Samier began to run the show attacking at will and getting the ball forward quickly.

In the 60th minute Eddie Duggan floated in a good corner to the far post for O’Rahilly to power a header down to Diggins who made no mistake from close range. This was probably no more than Dynamos deserved but it was to get worse for Dingle.

From the tip off Dingle lost the ball to Samier, who passed to Adrian McHugh and he beat his marker to chip the advancing keeper to give Dynamos a 2-0 lead.

Dynamos took off James White and Samier and introduced Mickey Lynch and new signing Saad Mohamid Ali who is Somalian and looks a fine young prospect. The game finished with Dynamos in control and it was left to the Dingle Bay keeper Adrian Kennedy to bring off a string of fine saves, thus keeping the score line respectful.
