Dynamos ease past Moher Celtic
Tralee Dynamos beat Moher Celtic 4-2 after Sam Madigan gave
Moher a 7th minute lead. However goals from Kevin McCannon, Adrian McHugh, Eoin
Cassidy and Shane O’Carroll ensured a win for the home-side
Spa Road were beaten 2-1 by Cratloe Celtic but they gave a good account of
themselves but Tralee Celtic had a nightmare when they travelled to West
Limerick and were crushed 9-0 by Rathkeale.
? Ballybunnion were due to play Newcatlewest but the game was postponed due to
the weather.
Duggan went close for Dynamos at the other end and in the 20th minute Crotty’s cross cum shot just went inches over the Moher bar.
The visitors were confined to their own half in the main with the occasional counter attack as Dynamos continued to press for the equaliser and James Sugrue missed a great opportunity in the 34th minute when he headed wide of the target.
In the 37th minute the ball broke from an O’Rahilly cross to Edward Duggan who shot well over the bar when he should have done better.
However two minutes from the break a Billy Stack cross broke in the box and Kevin McCannon was on hand to drill a low ball to the corner of the Moher net and so the sides retired at one apiece.
Dynamos must have got a stern talking to at half time as they resumed in attacking mode and took the lead in the 47th minute when a cross from Crotty was miss-hit by Hennessy and Adrian McHugh was on hand to drill it home from the penalty spot.
This should have been the signal for Dynamos to put their opponents away but they missed some good chances with Madigan heading wide while Sugrue missed from close range at the other end.
In the 62nd minute Sugrue crossed for McHugh and he laid the ball off for Billy Stack to chip the ball over the bar.
In the 76th minute a cross from Stack saw Duggan’s shot being turned behind for a corner and when it was floated into the danger area Eoin Cassidy rose highest to head it home and Dynamos where 3-1 in front.
Young Shane O’Carroll came on for Dynamos and he almost scored in the 85th minute but a minute later Moher got back into the game when their substitute John Kerin fired home from close range.
It made for a nervous finish but in the 89th minute a mix-up at the back by Moher Celtic when their keeper and defender collided allowed Shane O’Carroll to score his first senior goal for the club and Dynamos were in the next round of this cup but they will have to improve.
