It is not for holidays that Tralee Dynamos are heading for Bray but for the biggest game in the club’s history where the take on Bray Wanderers in the Last 16 of the FAI Ford Senior Cup.
When the draw was made for this round there were only two teams left outside of the Premier and Division One clubs – Crumlin Utd and Dynamos. This shows the exalted company the Tralee club now finds themselves playing amongst.
Following a great start to the A Championship Dynamos are now third in the table, level with Bray’s A Championship side on 21 points but a point behind Bohemians with 2games in hand. The record of 7 wins and only three losses in the league is testament to the performance of the whole squad. The main aim for the rest of the season is to finish in the top three in the group, which would guarantee Dynamos a play-off with the top non league side in group 2, which looks like being Salthill Devon or Castlebar Celtic. The winner of the tie would play-off against the bottom Division 1 side in a home & away fixture with the winner taking a place in the Division 1 subject to F.A.I. criteria.
However all thoughts of the League will
be put on hold next weekend when a place in the last eight of the FAI Cup will
be the prize. (If Dynamos do get a draw then the replay will be in

“One of Dynamos losses in the League came against Bray and now playing their Premier team is certainly going to be another step up but the belief in the whole club is that we can get a result there, if they do beat us they will know they have been in a game” said club Chairman Ger Moloney.
Looking at what could be the starting line-up I would go with Wayne Guthrie in goal, a back four of Joanthan Burrows, Darren Crotty, Brian Fitzgerald and Maurice O’Rahilly. In the mid field Theo Diggins, David Hayes, Chris Kerins and Stevie O’Mahony with a potent strike force of Eoin Cassidy and Peter McCarthy but there are a number of others who could take one of those starting spots including Eddie Duggan, Eoin Fitzgerald and David O’Leary to name but three of the extended squad.

A final word goes to Dynamos Media Director Padraig Harnett. “This is another step along the way in the wonderful journey of Kerry soccer on the National stage. Many people have been involved over the years and many teams have had great victories. Now this Dynamos team is carrying on that tradition and breaking new ground with this FAI Cup run, alongside its League business. No-one wants to see it come to an end and I have a sneaking belief that is could be Bray who will be hiding in the sand dunes and Dynamos who will be licking the ice-creams outside the Carlisle Ground next Friday night” added Harnett!!
